I always thought excessive underlining was a sign of limited intellect, never did it myself.I also never received any criticism for bringing in scriptures not cited in the paragraph or material from extra research. There must be some real Neandertal congregations out there.

Underlining the answers in the Watchtower magazines
by JH in.
i found it funny how some people would literally underline just about everything in the watchtower magazine.
the more the magazine was underlined and notes were written, the more a person looked spiritual.. did it ever happen that you didn't read your watchtower magazine, and you underlined just about anything just to look as if you read it?.

Why do most brothers work in the cleaning business?
by JH inwhen i joined the jw's many years ago, i couldn't get over how many were working in the cleaning business.
i know this permitted them to go to the meetings, out in the field service, and work without any conflict.. where did this trend start?
is it like this world wide?

I think rhia "cleaning business" thing is just another broad negative generalization. There are two large congregations where I live, about 320 total attending, and I know of two guys that are in the cleaning business, hardly a significant percentage.

What happens when the Governing Body dies off?
by truthseeker inmost of the gb members are in their 80s and 90s.
with the passing of milton henschel (82), one wonders if they'll all live to be nearly 100, like freddy franz.. so let's take a theoretical look into the future, 11 years from now.. the year is 2014. the last gb member dies.
the faithful and discreet slave class are no longer in existence.

I can tell you for sure that there's a considerable group of the "powers that be" in New York that have believed for years that it is not possible for women to be of the anointed, it just hasn't been politically correct for them to say so. So it wouldn't surprise me at all if they finally went public with it.

What if the Watchtower Changed .......
by IslandWoman inif the watchtower changed it's blood doctrine to one where publishers could do what their conscience dictated without fear of reprisals from the brothers, if they also quit using the two witness rule and said all criminal accusations must be reported to the police, if they stopped shunning, if they said all df and da'd could associate with their friends and family, if they apologized to ray franz and all others who were hurt by their policies; would exjws respect their dogma and refrain from putting down their religious beliefs to their faces?.
this is an important question, more important than you know.

Sword of Jah: Re:Omitted Scriptures - NWT has no footnote explanations. Why?
by AwakenedAndFree indear sword of jah:.
the watchtower society omitted the following scriptures from their new world translation bible without a footnote explanation to readers explaining the reason of omission.
here are the missing scriptures - i'am referring only to the ones i know - there may be more: .

Someone go get a shovel so we can turn this molehill into a mountain. Go find a real issue, there are plenty of them.

From what I've seen, donation from the preaching work are a truly miniscule part of the Organization's income. I don't know anyone tha asks for donations.

Island Woman I believe that the vast majority of exJWs would respond very positively to the changes you mention, as well as the many, many within the Organization that have real problems with the way things are today. I doubt the response on this board would be indicative of that but this board tends to be composed largely of the more radical end of the exJW spectrum and radicals typically will only countenance the complete destruction of whatever they're opposed to, they will also never cease to come up with new demands whenever any of their old ones are met. Bolsheviks revisited.

The PO and CO visit me....new light!!??
by truman ini am just going to have to start keeping my front door closed.
today, i had it open, and there was no way to pretend i wasn't home when the two 'brothers' rang my door bell.
actually, they had been by last saturday, too, but the door was closed that day, and i didn't answer it.

Well COs and DOs are some of the worst about twisting official doctrine and scriptures. I know one that told a congregation that a lot of people in their territory were going to die because they weren't spending enough time in the ministry. So much for angelic direction.
